Sandymere's Class Blog 27.3.256
Date: 27th Mar 2026 @ 9:25am
What a wonderful week we have had in Sandymere! The children have continued to let their light shine in everything they do, showing curiosity, creativity and kindness across all of their learning.
📚 English
We have completed our English unit all about that cheeky, mischievous monster Nibbles! The children wrote fantastic diary recounts, impressing us with their growing confidence in using capital letters, full stops and the conjunction ‘and’ to extend their sentences. Their enthusiasm for writing has really shone through this week.
🔡 Phonics
In phonics, we have been revisiting split vowel digraphs (a_e, e_e, i_e, o_e, u_e).
You can support learning at home by asking your child to spot any split digraphs in their reading books. They love being phonics detectives!
➕➖ Maths
In maths, we put our addition and subtraction knowledge together to explore fact families and to compare number sentences. The children worked brilliantly, showing resilience and reasoning as they made connections between numbers.
💻 Computing
This week in computing we explored digital writing. The children learnt how to navigate the keyboard and had a go at typing on the iPads. They showed great perseverance as they located different keys and practised typing simple words and sentences.
🛡️ E‑Safety
We revisited the important topic of personal information—discussing what is safe to share online and what must be kept private. The children showed good awareness and understanding during these conversations.
🚂 History
We have started our new history unit all about trains. The children enjoyed sorting images of trains from those furthest in the past (beyond living memory) to trains today (within living memory). This prompted thoughtful discussions about how technology and transport have changed over time.
🎵 Easter Preparation
Sandymere have been working very hard practising our Easter song, ready to share with you all in Church on Wednesday morning. We can’t wait for you to hear their beautiful singing.
Have a wonderfull weekend,
Team Sandymere.
