🌟 A Fantastic First Week in Year 1! 🌟
What an amazing first week we have had in Sandymere Class! It has been wonderful welcoming the children back after the summer holidays and seeing how quickly they have settled into Year 1 life.
😊 The children have done a fantastic job learning our new routines and have shown such impressive attitudes towards their learning. We are so proud of their enthusiasm, resilience and eagerness to take on new challenges as they continue to let their light shine.
🔢 Maths
In Maths, we have been developing our understanding of numbers by subitising numbers to 5 and practising accurate number formation. We have noticed that numbers 2, 3 and 5 would benefit from a little extra practice at home.
🎵 Music
We thoroughly enjoyed our music lesson this week, where the children explored using their voices to create high and low sounds, as well as loud and quiet sounds. It was wonderful to see everyone joining in with confidence and creativity.
🧠 Happy Mind
As part of our Happy Mind learning, we learned about the three main parts of our brain, known as Team HAP:
⭐ Hippocampus
⭐ Amygdala
⭐ Prefrontal Cortex
⭐ Amygdala
⭐ Prefrontal Cortex
The children practised Happy Breathing 🌬️ and discussed when and how this can help us to feel calm, focused and ready to learn.
🙏 Collective Worship
In our Class Collective Worship, we explored our class Christian value, Thankfulness. We thought about what it means to be thankful and shared some of the things we are grateful for. 💛
