🌈 Sandymere Class Blog – World Book Day Fun!

We had a wonderful week in Sandymere Class celebrating World Book Day! The children were full of excitement, imagination and curiosity as we explored stories, characters and creativity.

📚 Our Story: Rainbowsaurus

To start the day, we enjoyed sharing the colourful and joyful story Rainbowsaurus. Everyone loved following the rainbow dinosaur on its adventure—and we were inspired to go on our very own journey!

🕵️‍♂️ Character Hunt Around School

After reading the story, we headed out on a Rainbowsaurus character hunt!
The children searched all around school, spotting the characters from the book hidden in different places. There was so much teamwork, enthusiasm and brilliant observation along the way.

✍️ We Made Our Own Books

Back in class, the children became real authors and illustrators. They created their very own mini books, using ideas from Rainbowsaurus to inspire new adventures. We are so proud of their imagination!

Maths – Addition to 20

In maths this week, we’ve been working on:

  • Counting on to add numbers to 20
  • Using our number bonds to 10 to help us find number bonds to 20

The children are becoming much more confident using strategies to help them add efficiently.

🌱 Science – Signs of Spring

We have been exploring the season of spring and thinking about the changes we see around us. The children created beautiful spring posters, including:

  • budding flowers
  • baby animals
  • longer days
  • warmer weather

They showed great understanding of how our environment changes at this time of year.

🎨 Art – Exploring Watercolours

In art, we experimented with watercolours and asked the question:
“What can watercolours do?”

The children explored:

  • adding more or less water
  • painting on wet and dry paper

They produced some lovely test sheets and discovered how versatile watercolours can be.

We have had such a busy and exciting week in Sandymere Class. The children have worked brilliantly and shown so much creativity, curiosity and enthusiasm in everything they’ve done. Well done, Sandymere!
