Hatchmere's Class Blog 3.5.24

Date: 3rd May 2024 @ 2:33pm

In Hatchmere this week we have put our expressive voice to good work. We have used expression in our reading, role-play and singing! The children are amazed when expression is taken away and a story is read in a boring voice or even when Elsa does not use expression in her singing….we much prefer expression in Hatchmere!

The children have been showing off their mathematical skills in a number bond game. What number do we need to add to 3 to make 5? Answers on whiteboards with points given, a very competitive game indeed/ The children have also been challenged to independently investigate the numbers 1-5 and discover which numbers had a double hidden inside. The children used multilink as a manipulative for their research.

Following on from our work on lifecycles and planting 0our own beanstalks the children have been enjoying planting their own sunflowers….we are wondering whose sunflower will grow the tallest. Our budding gardeners are discovering the importance water and light is in the growing process. Super work Hatchmere!

This Thursday, Hatchmere had their very first whole class picture taken. They behaved impeccably and looked so smart! I am really looking forward to seeing it. You will find the code and website that you need to access to view/buy is in their book bags. It may take a few days for them to be uploaded.

You may have seen the blog from Mrs McLaughlin about Over St John’s Reading Champions visiting Hatchmere to read with some children:Reading Champion's Visit  It was such a lovely experience for Hatchmere and for the older children to share their joy of reading. We can’t wait for them to come back.

Enjoy your long weekend and we shall see on Tuesday at 8.35am
